Healthcare

The best AI healthcare app.

Mockup_OBS_iPad1205.jpg

The Project

It is a large-scale project. This project mainly uses AI to help long-term care institutions and medical institutions effectively manage patients and save labor costs.

The entire project combines software apps and hardware devices and fully utilizes AI technology to help more people.

My main job is to design the app UI and UX.

The Plan

The entire product strives to improve the working hours of care and medical staff. We believe AI technology can make up for the shortage of human resources also the frequency of caregiver bed inspections can be reduced. Our purpose is to improve both the lack of human resources and the quality of residents' healthcare.

  • Intuitive design reduces the learning cost of care giver

  • Considering the development of future products, we use images instead of words to make it easy for caretakers of different nationalities.

  • The emergency notification of the product must be simple and clear

  • Simplify the system process and make the system a help rather than a redundant job for caregivers.

Pre Alpha-Alpha1 : UX research and UI framework

Learning users and defining requirements

The focus of this stage is to conduct a demand survey. Therefore, we actually went to the long-term care institution to conduct user interviews. The subjects of user interviews are respectively directed at 1. Institutional administrator and 2. Caregivers, sort out the questionnaire, clarify the problem and the primary solution direction, and develop the system interface framework together with the team members based on the interview results.

  • How does the institution usually take care of patients?

  • The working shift system of the caregiver (working hours, rest time)?

  • What kinds of management system is used by the institution?

  • The frequency and standard of getting bed-exit notification?

  • The frequency and standard of emergency notification?

Alpha1-Alpha2 : Functional development

Alpha1 to Alpha2.png

At this stage, we will focus on unifying the functional map and developing the entire UI flow. From the positioning of functions to integrate information.

  • Developed new features A: Patients management

  • Developed new features B: Device management

  • Developed new features C: Institution management

Alpha1-Beta : UI usability& information modified

Alpha2 to Beta.jpg

From Alpha1 to Beta, the focus of the revision was to reorganize the information structure and modify the UI to improve the user experience. Since I started to add three main management interfaces in Alpha1, I need to use the user feedback and QA test to understand the current usage status. In response to the feedback, I made the following improvements.

Overall: Improving the overview page to provide useful information more efficiently and the consistency of the operation and style.

  • Reduce the color contrast of the navigation bar, allowing users to focus more on the patient's monitoring status and event preview.

  • A dynamic carousel function for emergencies has been added to attract the attention of users and highlight the recognition of emergency notifications.

  • To add the carousel preview of the real-time physiological information of each patient to strengthen the caregivers' trust in the product.

  • Organize the information of the patient's personal information, separate the presentation of events notifications and physiological information.

Project summarize

After the testing and iterations of prototypes, we came to a final solution.
At present, the entire system has been successfully tested in three institutions, and the feedback on the interface usage is positive, especially the visual presentation of the main interface. Besides, the process of dynamically informing users of information is effective. On the other hand, all the design of the interface and user research will also be based on accurate event tracking. I believed event tracking could help me notice some issues that users have not mentioned(interview) also help me to understand which features are ignored by users.
I always believe that user research can help improve a better user experience and use technology to improve people's quality of life.
